What a Recare Visit Includes at Indy Smile Group

A recare visit is the six-month appointment most families already know: a cleaning, an exam, and a look at what changed since last time.
At Indy Smile Group it is also the easiest moment in the year to capture a current picture of the smile. For patients we already see at Smile Dentistry in Fishers, Simply Smile in Carmel, or Simply Smile in North Indy, that visit includes a **complimentary Oral Health Scan** when one is due. The scan is part of the visit. It is not a coupon and it is not a new product.

What happens at the visit
Recare is preventive care, not a new-patient workup. Same team. Same office. No extra paperwork for families we already know.
A typical visit covers:
- A professional cleaning
- An exam of teeth, gums, and bite
- X-rays when they are actually due — not by default every time
- An Oral Health Scan with the iTero® scanner when that scan is due
- Time to ask about a chip, a retainer that stopped fitting, or a crowding pattern a parent has been watching
The scan is a 3D model of the teeth and bite. Most kids treat it like a short video of their own mouth. Adults usually just want to see what the last year did.
Why the Oral Health Scan sits on recare
We walk out an Oral Health Scan on every iTero capture and attach a one-year recare to that code. That list is how the team knows who is due — the same way hygiene recare is run.
On a typical cadence, bitewing X-rays are taken at one recare and the Oral Health Scan is taken at the next six-month visit if X-rays are not due. Every patient still gets at least one scan a year. New patients get one the day they start.
The scan helps us look at:
- Crowding or spacing that is starting to change
- A bite that is shifting as adult teeth come in
- Wear, chips, and spots that are easy to miss on a quick look
- A year-over-year comparison when last year's scan is on file
It does not replace X-rays when X-rays are due. It does not diagnose from a blog post. It gives the dentist a current model to talk from.
If it has been more than a year since the last scan — or there has never been one — tell the front desk when you confirm. We will plan it into this visit.
Recare is not the New Patient Special
This page and this visit are for patients already in the practice.
New patients are welcome at all three offices. The New Patient Special is **$99** for the exam, cleaning, and necessary X-rays. New patients only. Not valid with insurance. That offer lives on new patients. It is not the recare CTA.
If someone in the family is overdue for a cleaning and someone else is new, book them on separate paths so the front desk can set the visit up correctly.
Invisalign patients still come in for recare
Aligners do not pause hygiene. If you are in treatment, the recare visit is where we check wear, fit, and whether the current plan still matches school, work, and sports.
Invisalign at Indy Smile Group is **$4,979** for kids or adults. If a child needs the Invisalign Palatal Expander appliance, that is a separate **$749** add-on. A consult is required to determine candidacy. Individual results vary.
Periodic specials stay at that same $4,979 and may include retainers or take-home whitening in the fee. There is not a second Invisalign price.

What to do this week
1. Check the last recare date for each person in the house — kids and adults.
2. If anyone is due or overdue, open recare or call the office you already use.
3. Mention a missing or overdue Oral Health Scan when you confirm.
4. Bring current retainers, aligners, or a sports mouthguard if you have one.
A cleaning is still a cleaning. The scan is how we keep the next six months from being a surprise.
