While You Have a Temporary Crown/Bridge
- Avoid sticky, hard, or crunchy foods on that side (gum, caramel, nuts, popcorn, ice).
- Floss carefully — pull the floss out from the side rather than snapping it up between the temporary and gum.
- Brush normally but be extra gentle around the temporary.
- If the temporary comes off, save it and call us immediately so we can recement it.
After Your Permanent Crown or Bridge Is Placed
- Some sensitivity to pressure or temperature is normal for the first few days to a couple of weeks.
- Continue excellent oral hygiene — brush twice daily and floss daily (water flosser is great around bridges).
- Avoid chewing extremely hard items directly on the new crown/bridge (ice, hard candy, etc.).
- Attend your follow-up appointment to check the bite and margins.
